A processing fee of RM1,080 for you and RM540 for each dependant (including 8% tax, not refundable), plus an immigration pass fee of RM90 for every 3 months. You may also need a refundable personal bond of RM200 to RM2,000 and a visa fee, depending on your nationality.

Can I bring my family?

Yes: your spouse or partner, children under 18, disabled children of any age, and your parents. Your spouse cannot work in Malaysia on this pass.

Can I appeal if I am rejected?

Not any more. Since 1 August 2026 MDEC no longer accepts appeals. You can apply again once you meet the requirements.

Do I pay Malaysian tax on DE Rantau?

Tax depends on the days you spend in Malaysia, not on the pass. If you stay 182 days or more in a year you may become a Malaysian tax resident. Use the 182-day tax residency counter on this site to check, and get advice for your own case.
